The Beverley Cougars was formed in 2012 after Steven Lindsey, the founder of the team, decided to create his own club. Working alongside the Humber Sport Partnership this was achieved. Steven who was a part of Bishop Burton Basketball team and a former Kingston Panthers player, was able to group a team consisting of new and experienced players; most of which have not played in the local leagues before. Linking up players from all across Yorkshire, Hull, Beverley, Hornsea and Driffield. None of which would be possible without the help and guidance of Chris Cummings, Matthew Fawcett and Elliot Hakner.
The reason we are called the Beverley Cougars is to pay homage to Jon Parker and the original Beverley Cougars which unfortunately came to a halt. However, the ambition of the newly formed Beverley Cougars is to build up the once great reputation, work alongside the local national league teams and local development groups to offer the best opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. We are based at Bishop Burton College, however we do run other sessions throughout the week. This is dependent on games and when and where we have them. As a team the Cougars are guaranteed 2 night of basketball minimum. We are looking for anyone wants to participate, even if you do not wish to play but still have love of the sport, we will find a role for you within our squad, this could include table official, referee, coach or other positions within the team.
